If you like trippy and unusual lighting for your shoots, TheBuffNerds have a perfect suggestion for you. In the shortest video tutorial ever, they will show you a simple and cheap DIY lighting setup in only 15 seconds.

What you’ll need:

  • Space visuals
  • Projector
  • Crumpled Mylar

All you need to do is project the space visuals onto crumpled Mylar. It will reflect the light and create an effect that looks really cool and trippy. It’s something similar to this look I achieved with a reflective purse and a phone flashlight. It’s brighter though, and it’s moving so you can also use it in videos.

You will need around $80 for this setup. It’s not too expensive, but you can make it even cheaper. You can make your own projector for a few bucks and project the space visuals from your phone onto Mylar. Also, I think that you could replace Mylar with tinfoil, but I don’t know for sure until I try it. Either way, you’ll make a lighting setup that won’t harm your budget and will give you a fun look to play with in your photos. Let us know if you try it and feel free to share your results!
