The Rylo 360 camera was published a year and a half ago, and the company is apparently listening to its customers’ suggestions. With the latest firmware update, the camera brings you two great new features: zoom and timelapse effects within your 360-degree videos. What’s also great is that you don’t have to buy a new camera to get these features. All you need to do is upgrade the one you already own, as it was the case when the company introduced the 5.8K resolution.
The zoom feature lets you zoom in or out at multiple points within a video. You can zoom in to different subjects, or zoom out all the way into a tiny planet view. Rylo promises that its software automatically creates smooth transitions between zoom points, which could save you up plenty of editing time.
The timelapse feature, or “the speed tool,” lets you speed up the footage to create a timelapse-like video. You can apply this effect to a whole video, or choose just a segment. Together with zoom, I believe that this feature could add up to the story and dynamics of your 360-degree videos.
Starting today, the new zoom and speed tool should be available for Android, iOS, and MacOS. You can update Rylo’s software and add them to the existing features. In case you need some help, head over to Rylo’s website and follow the instructions.
