Tamron has announced some new firmware updates for three of their F mount lenses to add compatibility for “general operations” with the Nikon Z7 and FTZ adapter. While not specifically mentioned, presumably this means they’ll also be compatible with the upcoming Nikon Z6 as well.
The three new firmware updates apply to the following lens models for Nikon F mount…
- SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A032) for Nikon
- SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A041) for Nikon
- 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD (Model B028) for Nikon
Lens firmware can be updated on these three models using the TAP-in console for Nikon. Other lens updates are expected, although Tamron hasn’t said when.
If you want to check if your lenses are compatible, or are expecting compatibility to come soon, keep an eye on the list on the Tamron website for updates.
Hopefully Tamron will be able to start adding Z compatibility to more of their lineup as the new Nikons start to ship out. They’re already lagging quite far behind Sigma.
