How I Took These Photos Of Electric Capoeira Fighters
Throughout my years as a photographer, I am in a constant search for the source of my inspiration, for the place where my ideas for my personal projects come from. I keep asking myself why I do these projects, and whether they are worth the large investment they require.
I remember that as a small child I used to love playing with Lego, and assembling them to various constructions. Lego gave me the ability to connect between life situations, such as feelings, images, things I like, and even situations that make me nervous.
In this project called “Electric Capoeira” I combined and connected three all my passions – the passion for making things with my own hands, the passion for Capoeira (a sport I practiced and love) and the passion for photography.
If You Want To Make Things Hard, Combine 4 Mirrors, Ground Fog And A Light Blaster To Create An Image
There are these moments I have, lying in bed, closing my eyes and there it is: that idea that won’t let me sleep. Most of the time the idea get stranger and stranger as time goes by, because instead of being asleep, which is what I probably should do, I get inspired.
So I wake up and there it is: The telephone call, asking if you want to buy four mirrors. A few moments later I am standing with my first cup of coffee in my kitchen to realize what just happened:
- I decided to build a ground fog machine
- I just bought four giant mirrors
- There should be some strange light, probably Light Blasting some structures somewhere…
I didn’t sleep very well the next night either, because I started testing my DIY-ground-fogger.

Here it is a short description of the process for creating the image of the bottle “Papo Seco” to Pinto & Raposo.
For this shot I only had the 5 bottles my client gave me and the idea he wanted for the image… He wanted “fresh” “clean” and “young” he also needed some blank space for adding text later on…
In the beginning I was thinking on using only one bottle…but as I had 5 bottles available I decided to try to use them all.

I think it happend to me while watching one of David Hobby’s tutorials, realizing that the justification for flash lighting is so much more then just “being able to shoot at ISO 100”. Lighting sets the mood, creates separation, defines spacial relation and, sometimes, makes the impossible possible. Today, let’s look at a lighting trick, I’ve only recently come across together with photographer (and good friend) Ethan Oelman while joining him on one of his personal projects. How To Create The Tastiest Vintage Themed Coffee Ad
I recently did a vintage themed coffee ad and documented the process to show what goes into making stuff like this.
While the ad is centered around the product packaging rather than its content (more on that further down), the basic idea was to return the object, a coffee tin from the 1960’s Denmark, to its own time period in a nostalgic veil of bygone times, playing on atmosphere rather than the practical benefits of coffee.
How I Built The Set For The Holy Mary Photograph
I met Viviane many years ago when we were added to a project together as photographer and stylist by a designer friend. The project never launched but we always kept in touch to see what each was doing. So at some point after we few years we both said: “Why don’t we ever shoot???” This started a 30 min brainstorm through facebook chat. We both wanted something very stylized. She suggested something like a “holy mary”? Then I came in and suggest something darky holy mary. And the idea was born. “The Holy Sinister Mary”.

The Thought Process of a Professional Photographer: Behind the Scenes to Photograph a Computer Display On A Desk
In our previous post where I reviewed the 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide Display – LG 34UM95, I had to include a few photos of the display sitting on my desk. I could have used an advertising photo, but for a hands on review, I wanted to show the monitor sitting on my actual desk.
As it turns out, the final shot was a teeny bit more involved than I was planning and I think that you might find the thought process along the way pretty interesting.
We Got A High End Strobe System For 4 Days – Here Is What We Did With It
Multiblitz was very kind. They said: “Here is our catalog, choose wisely”.
So we did! We prowled through their catalog and picked a small yet very powerful set of strobes for us to play with for a few days (spec below). It was pretty exiting to choose what to take and set up our wishlist, we had big eyes as the packages arrived a few days later in our studio. It was only then that we realized that we still need to put a model on a crane in a junk yard; Take an amazing beauty shot and test the strobe speed with a pro diver.

This is a project of my hairmake friends we did together some time ago, I have another article from the same project, too I bet you’ve seen it, but here is the article for it too. It’s been really hard work putting all the blue stamps on both the model’s face and the background, but definitely worth it, as I really love that set of images! I’m using a 2 lights setup,which I’ll write about below! finally, it has a bit of style to it, either you love it or you don’t!
