Initially announced last April, the Atomos Ninja V finally went on sale in January of this year. Since then, it has rapidly become one of the most popular 5″ monitor recorders out there. The Insta360 Titan is a ridiculous beast of a camera. It offers a level of quality that most of us will never need in our wildest dream projects. But if you’re shooting high-end immersive content, it could be the ideal tool for the job.
The Insta360 Titan houses eight Micro Four Thirds sensors to offer a combined 11K resolution at 30 frames per second, but it can also shoot 8K at up to 60 frames per second or 5.3K at 120 frames per second. Oh, and it can also shoot 3D 360 video at 10K resolution at 30fps. We had a chat with Insta360 at NAB 2019 to find out more about it.
Syrp has released a new app for iOS and Android to allow you to control your Syrp products from your mobile device. Addressing a number of issues with the original Syrp app, the new app offers a cleaner easy-to-use interface to increase workflow efficiency on location.
Syrp was also recently acquired by Vitec, which was something of a surprise. But it’s an acquisition that offers a lot of promise for both Syrp as a company as well as Syrp’s customers. DIYP spoke with Syrp at NAB 2019 to find out more about the new app, the acquisition and what benefits it provides for users of Syrp products as well as potential future customers around the world.
The original Litra Torch was a very decent little light. Aimed at action and adventure action camera shooters, it offered a lot of punch for its small size. Now, Litra is back with the new Litra Torch 2.0, offering more LEDs, improved CRI and better waterproofing. DIYP caught up with Litra at NAB 2019 to find out more.
Joby’s Gorillapod has been the tripod of choice amongst many vloggers for quite a few years now. They weren’t originally designed for this use, though, and it’s been tough for them to stand up to the rigors of daily use for this purpose. They don’t always last as long as some might hope and vloggers have posted at length with their frustrations, yet still keep buying more.
Joby has now responded to those concerns, though, announcing the Gorillapod 3K Pro – a lightweight aluminium version of the Gorillapod designed to help stand up to those daily vlogger demands. DIYP had a chat with Joby during NAB 2019 to find out more about it.
During NAB 2019, DIYP had the chance to sit down with DP Rah Sharma on the Zhiyun stand to talk about how he uses the Zhiyun Crane 3 LAB for shooting cinematic footage. As you can see from the rig Rah’s using, which includes a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K in a SmallRig cage with a matte box, the Crane 3 LAB can take some serious weight.
When it comes to editing on location, particularly video, the biggest challenge is finding laptops with enough grunt to really let you get the performance you need to work through things quickly. And while there are some great laptops out there for this kind of work, you do start to feel those bottlenecks after a while.
ASUS has a response to that, though, with the new ASUS StudioBook S W700, a laptop offering an Intel Xeon CPU, up to 64GB RAM, up to 4TB M.2 storage and an Nvidia Quadro GPU. DIYP spoke with ASUS at NAB 2019 about the new StudioBook S laptop and its capabilities.
The latest Creative Cloud update from Adobe brought with it a lot of new features, changes and fixes for the whole suite. Three of the biggest are content-aware fill for video in After Effects, Freeform view for Premiere Pro and some pretty massive GPU performance upgrades. DIYP spoke with Adobe at NAB 2019 about these new updates and what they mean for users.
G-Technology has been a trusted name in portable hard drives for a long time. I’ve been using their ev ATC drives myself as my location backup solution myself. But as storage and speed demands increase, technology has to move forward. G-Technology was at NAB 2019, so DIYP had a chat with them about some of their location backup and editing workflow storage solutions.
