Leica Women Foto Project announces its powerful 2022 winners
In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, Leica announced the three winners of the annual Leica Women Foto Project Award. Like every year, this contest is a part of Leica’s initiative to expand diverse representation in the photography industry, to include all perspectives, and to empower women. And just like in previous contests, the winning images are thought-provoking and powerful in 2022, too.
Leica Q2 Monochrom gets a “Reporter” look and wants photojournalists to get it
Leica has released another of its cameras in the olive-green “Reporter” suit. This time, you can get the Q2 Monochrom in this special “outfit,” and it’s not even a lot more expensive than the basic version.
To remind you, Leica already has the M10-P and the regular Q2 in this version. But it’s a pleasant surprise that the Q2 Monochrom doesn’t cost $300 or even $1,000 more than the basic version, like the Q2 and the M10-P respectively.
Leica now makes watches and yes, they’re really expensive
What’s the first thought that comes to mind when someone mentions Leica? For us photographers, it’s most likely high-quality (and high-price) cameras and lenses.
But Leica now also makes wristwatches. They come in two versions and both look absolutely beautiful. And other than premium quality, they also come with significant price tags of up to $14,000.
The new Leica M11 comes with a big 60-megapixel resolution bump and no more bottom plate
Leica has announced the new Leica M11 digital rangefinder camera. It features a new triple-resolution sensor capable of producing either 60-megapixel, 36-megapixel or 18-megapixel images in either DNG raw or JPG format. The new full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, Leica says, features a special IR+UV cut filter comprised of two extremely thin, cemented layers of glass and a new colour filter array for more natural colour reproduction.
The Leica M11 does look a lot like the Leica M10 – after all, they’re both Leica – but it does come with a couple of significant exterior changes. For a start, there’s no bottom plate. You can now directly access your battery and there’s also a new Type-C USB socket under there, too (an awfully inconvenient place if you ask me). The rear of the camera has also seen an overhaul and a 2.3 million pixel touchscreen LCD.

Leica has just announced a new version of an existing camera: the Q2 Reporter Edition. Similar to the M10-P Reporter, it was also designed with photojournalists in mind. It’s sleek, pretty and discreet, and it won’t even cost you much more than the regular Q2.
