One of the most interesting tidbits in Amazon’s annual holiday sales report is the product that takes the top spot in the photography category.

Film.

Yes, that film.

We’ve previously shared how you can convert your existing dSLR to shoot infrared images, but this approach is very touchy, technical, and would most assuredly void the warranty on your camera.  Fortunately, for those wanting to shoot IR photos, Fuji has just announced X-T1 IR, the first mirrorless infrared camera.

“The X-T1 IR focuses on both excellent image quality as well as delivering incredible speed. It uses an extremely fast and accurate autofocus system, and is compatible with Ultra High Speed UHS-II SD memory cards. At up to 8 frames per second, the X-T1 IR is fit for any specialized workplace in need of first-rate photo quality, durability and performance.” – Fuji Press Release

If you are one of those who stalk refrigerators in the back of photography stores, consider this an official heads up that Fujifilm are going to end-of-line some of their 120, 220 and 135 films as well as bump the price of some of their other products.

This painful process will start this year and will carry out until mid 2017 with 220 films being almost completely gone (you can usually use 120 film instead, but if you are a hard core 220 shooter – or just uses an old Yashika or a brownie stock up!)

Here are the products and dates tables translated. The first table is heading for a 20% price increase (give or take)  no October this year.

Two exciting additions were announced earlier today in Fujifulm’s mirrorless X-series line-up.

The X-T10 is an enthusiast version of the flagship X-T1, and as such the cameras have quite a bit in common, including the sensor and processor.

Among the new features are the Zone and Wide Tracking modes that will make the most out of the 77-point focus system.

Joining the X-T10 is the 90mm f/2, with a fast aperture, weather sealing and a popular focal length equivalent of 137mm.

Both products will become available within two months and are can already be pre-ordered.

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about how great Fuji cameras are, so about 3 weeks ago I decided to get a Fuji. I was thinking of getting the XT-1 but I wasn’t so sure yet if Fuji’s are really as great as they say they were so I went with the cheaper XE-2 that has the same sensor as the XT-1. I got a bundled kit with an 18-55 f2.8-f4 lens.
