Using gels is often a problem when working with strobes. Getting them to fit around the bulb can be a pain, and trying to cover the front surface of a giant softbox is just impractical (and expensive!). Well, the folks at FlashGels have solved this issue for the Godox AD600Pro and AD400Pro with pre-cut gel kits that slip right over the bulb.

When Adorama announced that they were starting to go in their own direction with their rebranded Godox kit and actually developing their own compatible products, it was something of a surprise. The initial announcement of the R2 Pro Mark II got a lot of people very excited. It also got a lot of criticism, too. What’s with all the extra buttons? You’re making it too complicated!

Well, now the trigger has started to ship, and the first reviews are out. Photographer Rob Hall has got his hands on one, and he’s put together his thoughts on it in this video after spending some time with it. The short version, though, is to just go get it.

Adorama has a new Flashpoint Vertical TTL Hot Shoe adapter. It’s basically a pass-through adapter, so there are no extra batteries to deal with, that allows you to mount your flash trigger at a potentially more useful angle. Currently available for Nikon and Canon (no word if other brands are coming) it allows you to mount your trigger at a possibly more useful angle.

In response to user feedback over the Godox XPro trigger, Adorama has now announced the R2 Pro Mark II trigger for Canon. Don’t worry, Nikon. Sony, Fuji, Panasonic/Olympus and Pentax versions will be coming soon. It’s got a whole lot more buttons (they’re backlit, too!) and some very cool enhancements over the original.

First look at the Godox AD600Pro / Pixapro Citi600Pro / Flashpoint Xplor600 Pro

The names under which Godox gear is rebranded around the world can get a little confusing at times. Here in the UK, this is the Pixapro CITI600 Pro. In the USA it’s the Flashpoint Xplor600 Pro and the Godox AD600Pro depending on where you buy it. In various other countries, it’s sold under other names, too. From here, I’ll just call it the “600Pro”. But wherever you buy it, no matter what it’s called, this is an outstanding portable strobe. I’ve had one myself for a few weeks now (review coming soon), and it never fails to impress me with its speed and power.

So, the accidental leak might’ve forced Godox’s hand, but now it’s official. Godox have announced the new AD600Pro portable strobe. And for the most part, things seem unchanged from the original leak, but now they’re available to pre-order in the USA, with a UK release coming soon.

The power consumption of the new AD600Pro is the same as its AD600 predecessor, but there are some important differences. The first is that, unlike the AD600, it appears that the AD600Pro is only available in TTL flavour. so, there won’t be a discounted manual only version. But what it does offer is faster recycle times, a much better bulb design, a vastly more powerful modelling light, and a redesigned bracket.

In this article, I aim to explain what TTL is, what is does and how it can be implemented into a photographic workflow. I also go on to share my test images from a recent shoot where I tested the TTL abilities of the Godox AD600 / PixaPro Citi600 TTL / Flashpoint Xplor 600 TTL flash head. The test shots provided below show you exactly the strengths and the weaknesses of the function for a variety of situations.

With all the gear announcements lately, it’s easy to miss a relatively small name like Godox, but they’ve just announced some updates to their popular Lithium-ion powered range of flash units, and their QT600 studio strobes.

The big news here is that Godox have also added Sony TTL to the Godox X series of 2.4Ghz radio triggers and radio enabled flash units.
