Companies like Samsung and Huawei have recently brought some innovations to the world of smartphone photography. And now Sony has introduced Xperia XZ2 Premium, another smartphone aimed at photographers. This phone has the impressive ISO 12,800 for videos and 51,200 for photos and the company promises it will let you “reveal the unseen.”
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is the successor to Xperia XZ Premium and it’s equipped with a dual camera. One of the cameras shoots in black and white and the other in color. According to the description, the company used the same technology as in their Alpha range cameras.
The most prominent feature of Xperia XZ2 Premium’s camera is the capability to take photos even in the ultra-low light. It features dual sensor system and AUBE processor and reaches up to 12,800 for videos and 51,200 for photos. Sony promises “true professional camera quality” and “clean and noiseless” photos. But, we still have to see the camera in action and how high the ISO can get before the photos become unusable.
Other than low-light capabilities, Xperia XZ2 Premium also has a Portrait Mode for more professional-looking portraits. It captures 4K HDR videos and super slow motion videos at 960 fps in 1080p. As for the front camera, it also promises good low-light capabilities. It’s a 13 MP camera with a 1/3.06” low-light sensor and a display flash, so Sony promises that even your selfies will look good in low light.
There’s no word on the price yet, but according to CNET, Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium will become available in summer 2018. Hopefully, this is when we’ll see it in action and learn just how usable it is in low-light situations.
