The Micro Four Thirds System Group has gained another member. Group founders Panasonic and OM Digital Solutions have announced that Sirui has joined the team.
This means that Sirui is not only committed to the format but that its MFT products will meet all of the standards set and followed by the rest of the members. This ensures maximum compatibility between equipment and brands.

Guangdong Sirui Optical Co., Ltd – AKA Sirui
Colloquially known as “Sirui”, the complete company name is Guangdong Sirui Optical Co., Ltd. The company’s been around since 2001, making various products, although their speciality is lenses. Particularly, anamorphic and other cinema lenses.
Sirui has several sets of cinema lenses for Micro Four Thirds already, including the recently refreshed Night Walker series. So it might seem odd to join the group now. But being a member of the group provides a number of benefits.
Thus far, Sirui has concentrated on manual focus cinema lenses – at least for the Micro Four Thirds system. But as the company expands into autofocus lenses for photography, having access to the MFT System Group’s resources will be very handy.
The complete release reads as follows:
Guangdong SIRUI Optical Co., Ltd. (SIRUI) Joins the Micro Four Thirds System Standard Group
Tokyo, Japan, May 28, 2024 – OM Digital Solutions Corporation 1 and Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd. 2 jointly announced the Micro Four Thirds System standard in 2008 and have since been working together to promote it. We are pleased to announce today that Guangdong SIRUI Optical Co., Ltd. has declared their support for the Micro Four Thirds System standard and will be introducing compliant products to the market.
The Micro Four Thirds System is currently supported by 61 companies, including companies focusing on B2B operations. New products will be added to the Micro Four Thirds lineup in the future with the participation of SIRUI, providing innovative optical lens, lighting equipment, and other products that support shooting for filmmakers. The possibilities unique to an open standard will expand the enjoyment of imaging further.
As the companies responsible for initiating both the Four Thirds System and the Micro Four Thirds System standards, OM Digital Solutions and Panasonic will continue to develop and enhance the product line-up to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
About Guangdong SIRUI Optical Co., Ltd.
SIRUI Optical, the world’s leading optical imaging brand, with lens users all over the world, is your best photography companion. SIRUI has a strong supply chain system and is gradually becoming a benchmark brand in the global imaging industry
Exactly which lenses this may cause Sirui to bring to Micro Four Thirds remains unclear. But it’s interesting to see that more companies are still signing up to support what some believe to be a dead or dying format.
Sirui isn’t even the first company this year to have joined the group. Logitech joined a couple of months ago. Logitech and Sirui are only two of the 60+ companies now in the group and supporting the format.
