Sigma’s new 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens got a lot of people excited. At least, a lot of Canon, Sony and Sigma shooters. Finally, a macro lens with the build and optical quality of the other Art series lenses. And it was one of the lenses coming in a new native Sony E-Mount. Finally, Sigma has announced prices and release dates.

We got to check out the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens, along with the 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens, at The Photography Show a couple of months ago. Here’s a reminder in case you missed it.

So, prices. In the UK, the 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens will be £499.99 and it will be $569 in the USA. The Canon version will be available first, coming later in May. The Sigma mount version will follow in June. They haven’t yet said when a Sony E Mount version is to be released. Nor has there been any word yet on the 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens.

Pre-orders don’t seem to have opened up just yet, but I’d expect them to be available any day now.
