Photographer mods Game Boy camera to take race car photos

We’ve seen all kinds of cool projects with the old Game Boy camera: from portraits to astrophotography; from color photos to Game Boy webcam. Conor Merrigan modified his Game Boy camera to use Cannon DSLR lenses and used it to take some awesome car racing photos.

We featured Conor’s modification work before and his video showing how he modified the Game Boy camera. He designed a 3D-printed adapter himself and it allows him to add a Canon DSLR lens to the modest toy camera. He also hacked the camera in order to transfer the photos to his computer. Pretty cool, right?

Conor used his Franken camera to take photos of car races. Despite the camera’s modest capabilities, these actually look pretty cool. They reminded me of Tim Binnion’s photos of a Formula 1 race: they were also taken with a GameBoy camera, only it wasn’t modified to take DSLR or mirrorless lenses.

Take a look at more photos below, and make sure to follow Conor on Instagram and his YouTube channel for more of his work.
