I can never get enough of gadgets and jewelry inspired by photography. One of these is Power Lens from LightPix Labs. It’s a “pancake lens” which is actually a wireless charger for your mobile device. It mimics the style of a 40mm lens, and it looks like a nice gift for photo nerds.

LightPix Labs promises fast charging of your iOS or Android device with this “lens.” As they write, Power Lens supports Fast Charge, which is able to charge your phone 1.5 times faster than the standard wireless charger. It requires a QC 2.0 / 3.0 compatible wall adapter, but it’s also backward compatible with any Qi-enabled device for charging at standard speed (5W).

To start charging your device, you need to place it on top of the “lens.” This is probably the only scenario in which you’d put a phone on top of the lens, right? They even thought of the appropriate sound, so when the charging begins, you’ll hear the clicking sound of the shutter. But, if you don’t like it, you can mute it.

As for the compatibility, the Power Lens is basically compatible with any device that supports wireless charging. You can learn more about the compatibility on the product’s website.

It’s the end of October, the right time to start thinking of the Christmas presents and choosing the perfect gift. I can already feel the Christmas spirit in my city (if you don’t trust me, check this out). I guess the guys from LightPix Labs also thought of this, because they promise first shipment on November 28 and the delivery by Christmas 2017. As for the price, the first 200 sets will cost $29, and after this it will be $39. So if you’re looking for something to match that lens mug on your desk, you might like this charger.
