Filter system manufacturer NiSi has just introduced Switch, a new filter holder that lets you hold two filters at once and rotate them independently from each other. It’s made for situations when you need graduated ND filters at different angles, so you can achieve optimal results in-camera.
NiSi Switch works with the 82mm main adapter which is included in the following NiSi kits: V6, V5 PRO, and V5. It allows you to use two square filters and a circular filter (CPL or ND) and provides 360-degree rotation. You can lock the holder and rotate both square filters together. But if you’re dealing with a complex lighting situation, you can rotate them separately and place the filters at different angles.
The filter holder is designed with aluminum-alloy construction CNC, so it’s lightweight but sturdy. There is no vignetting at 16mm on a full-frame camera. Norwegian photographer Ole Henrik Skjelstad tested the NiSi Switch at Rondane National Park, Norway. Here are a few examples, and you can see the rest on his blog:

The Switch is part of NiSi’s 100mm filter system, so if you are a NiSi user, you can just order the Switch as an additional filter holder and will cost around $99. If you own a current 82mm filter holder, you’ll also need a V6, a V5Pro or a V5 kit, and they start at $169. You can find out more at NiSi’s website.
