NASA’s free interactive e-book is full of spectacular aerial photos of Earth

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, concerts, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.

To celebrate the glorious beauty of our home planet, NASA has published a new photo book. Appropriately titled Earth, it contains hundreds of gorgeous aerial images of the Blue Planet. You can download a version for any eBook reader, there’s also an interactive online version – and they’re all completely free.

“For all of the dynamism and detail we can observe from orbit, sometimes it is worth stepping back and simply admiring Earth,” NASA writes. “It is a beautiful, awe-inspiring place, and it is the only world most of us will ever know.”

All photos in the book were captured over the years by various NASA satellites, Digital Trends writes. Depending on the eBook reader you own, you can download different electronic versions of the book:

  • Kindle readers: MOBI
  • All other eBook readers: EPUB
  • PDF readers: PDF

I have downloaded a PDF to browse it on my crappy but beloved tablet. There’s also an interactive online version divided into four sections: Atmosphere, Water, Land, and Ice and Snow. Just like the e-book versions, this one is also free and accessible by anyone, anywhere.

In case you prefer sniffing freshly printed pages and listening to the sound of pages turning, there’s also a tangible, hardcover version of Earth. But unlike its electronic counterparts, this one isn’t free. The price in the US is $53, and the international price is $74.20. I’d say it’s worth it, but if you prefer electronic books (and free stuff), download one of those above and enjoy!
