Godox teases with prototype of new 1200 watt LED bi-colour light

We saw quite a few lights at IBC 2022 with several brands launching bigger, better, brighter LED lights. Godox wasn’t to be outdone, however, and had their latest piping hot offering, the 1200watt MG1200 on display. Ramon Uitervijkwinkel from Godox’s European distributor showed DIYP the new light.

It’s a 1200-watt bi-colour LED light, that goes from 2800K to 6500K. Throughout the different colour temperatures, the light maintains an even 1200 watts.

Of course, this light is aimed squarely at the top end of Godox’s range. This light is for serious productions. The light features Godox’s own big mount rather than the more usual Bowen’s mount. At the moment it’s such a new light that Godox is still working on the modifiers. Ramon assures us that there is a deep reflector already and a fresnel will be coming soon.

One unusual feature of the MG1200 is that it has the controls in the ballast. This means that all the controls are within easy reach. It also has the advantage of sharing out the weight and is apparently rainproof.

Right now we have no information on price or availability.
