The Camera Store (TCS), one of Canada’s most popular photo gear retailers, has been robbed. Two individuals broke in, smashing the shelves and grabbing all the gear they could get. In this robbery, the thieves took $30,000 worth of gear and caused material damage to the store.

At approximately 5:00 AM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, two masked people broke into The Camera Store. They took Sony, Nikon, and DJI equipment, and from the surveillance video, it looks like the perpetrators are a male and a female.

The Camera Store asks the public to call the police at 403-266-1234 if they have any information and reference the police case number CA23182932. If you wish to remain anonymous, call crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The store offers a $5000 shopping spree reward for information that leads to a charged conviction.

Here is the list of stolen gear, along with serial numbers. If you spot any suspiciously good deals, or if you’re just browsing for cameras, lenses, and other gear, keep your eyes open:

“Theft has a considerable impact on small companies like ours,” the store’s team writes in a blog post. “We are incredibly thankful for the unwavering backing of the photographic community now, just as we were in 2017 when Leica and Hasselblad gear was taken and later recovered by the Calgary Police Service.”

Perhaps you remember this case – the same store was robbed back in December 2017, and Calgary police caught the two suspects after only 48 hours. Another break-in occurred in May 2019, when a man took a Sony A7R III and Sony 16-35mm F2.8 G Master lens. When the staff tried to stop him – the man attacked them with bear spray and managed to escape.

If you have any information or hear and see anything suspicious, please do reach out to the police or crime stoppers. Here are the numbers again for your convenience:

Police: 403-266-1234 (case CA23182932)

Crime stoppers: 1-800-222-8477
