Bentley launches 57.7 gigapixel image, the most detailed landscape photo ever

Gigapixel images are something we mainly see at political events or sports games. But Bentley Motors has raised the bar of advertising and used this technique to show off their Bentley Flying Spur W12 S.
Their new gigapixel photo is set in Dubai, and it allows you to explore the magnificent scene to spot their latest model of the car. But you can examine the picture further and check out what else is there, and it’s quite amusing.
Bentley has done this before, with the 53 gigapixel image of the Golden Gate Bridge. However, the new one exceeds the previous one in size, and it shows Dubai with an incredible amount of details. With 57.7 gigapixels, this is now the most detailed landscape photo in the world.
The camera was at 264 m height on the Cayan Tower. It was necessary to stitch together 1,825 photos in total to create the final image. Since Dubai is a really hot place, it took a lot of effort to create the photos, as the heat creates haze. Also, at the height of 264m, the strong wind was also a problem. Reportedly, Bentley even approached NASA in the search for the best technology to take the photos. I don’t know if this is true, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Considering how expensive their vehicles are, I’m sure their advertising budget is enough to cover it.
If you’d like to explore the interactive photo yourself, you can do it here. The goal is to spot Bentley’s latest car, but there are plenty of other stuff to explore.

Isn’t it the mont blanc with 365 gigapixel ? http://www.in2white.com
As far as I understood, this is the largest landscape photo. It’s different from Mont Blanc, because that one is panoramic.
There’s a wake under the bridge but the boat(s) are gone. The image is impressive enough but I thought that was a rather funny oops. The invisible boats of Dubai. :)
Very cool. 1800 photos stitched together?! Wow, I’ve done like 10 or so ?
Where are all the people? I can only spot a few.
Does not link to the image mentioned, just the Bentley home page – which btw is confusing for those of us who don’t know how to decipher the ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’ vibe.
This is not the first time that I’ve clicked a D|Y Photography link that doesn’t take me to the relevant item. Maybe because this is 2017 recycled news?
