We’ve featured quite a lot of cool LEGO sets on DIYP over the years. And now there’s a real treat for astrophotography and astronomy enthusiasts: the LEGO Hubble Telescope. And it’s not just a concept that might become an official kit someday. It’s a set you can already preorder and start building in August.
The LEGO Hubble set was launched to celebrate the 35th anniversary of “humanity’s greatest scientific achievements,” as the company nicely puts it. LEGO describes this set as “a space decor building set for adults,” and I say – isn’t every LEGO set a set for adults? :)

According to LEGO, this is a detailed replica of the Hubble Telescope that captures the “essence of the legendary observatory that helped reshape our understanding of the cosmos.”

You can remove the exterior panels and reveal a detailed instrument bay, all with gyroscopes and primary and secondary mirrors. You can change the position the solar arrays and antennas, open the aperture door and display the telescope on its stand, complete with an information plaque. There’s also an astronaut LEGO figure for approximate scale representation. And for astrophotography fans, you’ll immediately notice the panel with three iconic Hubble images. I mean, how cool is all this?

The set contains 1,252 pieces and costs $139.99. It’s coming on August 1, 2026, but you can already view all the details on the LEGO website.
The Hubble Telescope Deserves a LEGO Set
Hubble is arguably the most important scientific instrument humanity has ever put into orbit. Since it launched in 1990, it’s circled Earth more than 1.5 million times and sent back over 1.5 million observations covering more than 50,000 celestial objects.
Some of the biggest astronomical discoveries of the last few decades trace straight back to Hubble’s data. This includes proof that the universe’s expansion is accelerating, a finding that cracked open the mystery of dark energy and earned a Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011. It’s peered into black holes, tracked comets crashing into planets, studied worlds outside our solar system… When it comes to photos, Hubble has produced some of the most iconic space images you can think of, like the Pillars of Creation and the Hubble Ultra Deep Field.

The Hubble Telescope is still going strong because NASA works hard to keep it operational. It’s been through five servicing missions, with NASA and ESA jointly running it for over three decades. So yeah, an elaborate LEGO set like this is definitely a wonderful tribute from everyone’s favorite toy company, isn’t it?
