© Kristian Gillies/100 for the Ocean 2023Can you do good by making or buying art? Of course you can. If you’d like to support ocean conservation and some fantastic photographers, then you’re going to love 100 for the Ocean.

This initiative unites 100 world-class photographers who have joined forces to contribute to marine life research and conservation. During May 2023, you’ll be able to buy their fine art prints at only $100, with 100% of profits going to ocean research and advocacy charities.

“It’s a real privilege to have so many amazing photographers and a curator like Kathy Moran, to band together to support this,” says Paul Nicklen, the co-founder of SeaLegacy and 100 for the Ocean. “Being a photographer is often a solitary pursuit, but to have communities come together like this, all for the purpose of good, to amplify and help grow other organizations, is a really beautiful thing. It reinforces the importance of the ocean in everyone’s lives.”

As I mentioned, 100% of net proceeds from the 100 for the Ocean print sale will be donated to ocean conservation organizations and SeaLegacy. The photographers who joined the project come from 15 countries, including people like  Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Steve McCurry, Jimmy Chin, Joel Sartore, Daisy Gilardini, Bertie Gregory, Michael Yamishita, Chris Burkard, Robert Irwin, Keith Ladzinski, Jodi Cobb, Pete Souza, Brooke Shaden, Pete McBride, Steve Winter, and more. They were selected not only for their talents and splendid images, but also for their contributions to conservation.

Considering the cause, it’s also worth noting that all 100 for the Ocean prints are produced and shipped with a carbon-neutral process. This is a limited-time sale, lasting between May 1 and May 32, 2023,so go and check out the prints you like and order your own. You can see the full list of participating photographers here and download the image catalog here.
