The ballot is done and U.K. are leaving the EU. Yea Brexit is full on.
I am not really sure what will happen to our friends in the E.U and our friends in the U.K. but I think that photography gear from U.K. companies will have to be affected. I am not sure it the price will go up or down, or if stock will be easier or harder to come by, but changes are coming for sure. Here is a list of 7 U.K. based gear companies. Use at your own discretion.
Lee filters
Lee are kinda the gold standard when it comes for photographic filters, they’ve been making them for about 30 years. Not only they are based in the UK, but they do make of the production in their factory in the UK.

Bowens
Bowens makes studio gear, mostly lights. And while they have been having a bit of a hard time lately, they are still considered on of the top strobe brands in the world. I am not sure if production is actually being made in the U.K. but HQ and the dev department are there.

Triggertrap
Triggertrap makes camera triggers that use your smartphone’s features and turns it into a camera triggering tool. This means you can use all the sensors in your phone to trigger a photo.

Inspired Photo Gear
Inspired photo gear are small, but they make some of the cleverest/smallest light stand systems I’ve seen.

3 Legged Thing is a British Tripod Company, specializing in compact, stable, modular, multi-functional tripod systems

Slow news day?
no razor?
How about Amazon links that don’t go to Amazon.com but to Amazon.co.uk?
first the UK steel companys will go broke the rest will not be a nice sight either….. that is what will happens.
the LEAVE morons like boris already said that not 350 million pounds a week will go into the NHS. first promise broken after not even 24 hours.
they are just a bunch of liars…..
but i am glad the UK left.
they where just blocking progess with the “extras regulations” they always demanded…. good riddance UK!!
You have no idea what you are talking about… The steel companies have left because the UK government jumped the gun and adopted the EU green energy policy… Ed Miliband as energy minister passed the “climate change act” which caused the energy prices to become so high that it became uneconomic to make steel here… So Tata an Indian company first moved its steel making to The Netherlands in order to take advantage of an EU grant that was being offered, and have now moved that capacity back to India.
In essence, the reason that steelmaking has stopped in the UK is because of the EU.
I don’t know where you are writing your comment from but what you need to understand is that THE MAJORITY of people in the UK want self determination, they want to be able to kick out a bad government. There are nearly 200 countries in the world and only
2827 of them want to be trapped in a Zollverein.Good riddance to the EU, and with a bit of luck it will collapse very soon along with its daft currency.
As for those UK based photographic companies… They are not going anywhere.
It was Churchill who said “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter”
Reading you seems Churchill was and Is 100% right…
Being rude is no way to win an argument sir.
I am not being nearly as rude as your reply above mine.
Let us talk in 5 years and let us see if you keep thinking brexit was the Panacea Boris Jhonson and the right wing xenophobic politicians sold you “sir”
Heck for all I see Donald Trump would feel at home with people like you
Bowens were recently bought by a German company.
And Three Legged Thing. They are a British company who sell Chinese made tripods.
None of these companies do anything for me.
“that” not “who” are in the UK. Who is used for people not things.
ILFORD isn’t british anymore for a long time : it belongs to german, taiwanese et autralian companies…
Ilford Photo’s global head office is in Knutsford, Cheshire, and as stated on their website…
“Please note : We are unable to help with enquiries relating to ILFORD Imaging Europe GmbH, their website (ilford.com) or ILFORD Galerie Inkjet products, as this is a completely separate company.”
