Aerial photos and videos are always fun as they give us a whole new perspective on things we thought we’ve seen from all angles. But why don’t we spice things up even more? In their latest video, guys from COOPHwill show you three ways to create trippy, mind-bending photos with your drone. They’re all pretty simple to create, all you’ll need is your trusty drone, Photoshop (or other post-processing software), and your imagination.

YouTube video

  1. Drone wall: this is a simple trick that requires two drone shots. First, find an interesting location and take your ND filter off. Fly low for the first shot and straight above the subject for the second. Join them together in Photoshop and that’s pretty much it!
  2. Drone fold: for this one, you’ll need to take three photos. Keep the drone low and close to the subject for the first photo. Next, turn the drone and go up a little. For the third shot, fly high above the subject, Once again you’ll need to bring the photos together in Photoshop and you’ll get a pretty weird effect as if there’s an elevation in the ground.
  3. Drone distortion: this is a more advanced method for which you’ll need to take multiple shots. Fly your drone in a curve while lowering your camera and take a few photos along the drone’s path. Feel free to experiment with various heights and angles. Once again, connect them in post and make sure that you’re precise. You’ll get something similar to Aydin Büyüktaş’s trippy drone inception photos. I personally quite like photos like these, so I encourage you to give it a shot.

Have you already tried creating some of these trippy drone shots? Feel free to share your results if you have, I’d love to see them.
