Instagram is full of clichés and fake stuff. Studies have even shown that it can even ruin self-confidence in teenagers. Well, a fun trainer and presenter Chessie King is exposing all those “perfect” photos in a series of funny and honest side-by-side photos. On her Instagram page, she shares an important body-positivity message, and she will make you chuckle along the way.
Before we go on, let me warn you that there will be some photos and videos in lingerie, so you might not want to watch this at work. : )
Chessie shared a video of herself and wrote: “This is me. This is my body.” She admitted that she used to count every calorie and work out all the time, yet she still didn’t see herself as “her idea of perfect.” But she managed to switch focus and just aim to be happy and comfortable in her own skin. She realized that it’s not about looking good, but about feeling good. And she wanted to share the message with the world.
Most of Chessie’s side-by-side photos aren’t photoshopped, they’re just taken from different angles. One photo shows some “classic Instagram pose” that makes her look thinner, and the other reveals some of what society would call “imperfections.”
Since Chessie has 362K followers at the moment of writing this article, you can imagine that there are quite a lot of trolls. So, in one of her videos, she edited herself so she looks more like their version of “perfect.” Scary.
As a woman who once was an insecure teenager, I can’t stress enough how important it is to share the body-positivity message. Instagram is full of “perfect bodies” and unhappy girls who want to look like that. And I like the way Chessie breaks the myth because she shows that you can trick so many people just by taking the right pose.
