This Photobooth Looks Like Instagram – Just As Trendy

Photographer Alexander Morris wanted to add a photobooth as a fun addition to events.
While the pictures and long-lasting-memories that a photobooth creates are important, the looks of the booth are crucial to attract visitors to take photos. Alex did a spectacular job on the design side, without sacrificing any quality.
Here are some of the booth’s highlights: (yes, you can build one yourself if you follow closely).
The exterior of the boot was started off with plywood carefully cut to look like an Instagram app icon “camera, including round corners and all.

Seven Segment displays were added to count off the seconds and display the “current frame”

And an Arduino was hooked up to control the camera sequence

The interiors were than fitted with a Nikon d3200 + 18-55 kit lens. 2 Nikon sb900 flashes, a TV monitor (connected to the 3200’s live view) and cooling fans.

Here is how the booth looks like

And here is a sample photo. You see more of those on Alexander’s site.

No printer? That’s pretty weak.
This housing looks awesome! I wrote some applescript that uses photoshop actions and a small dye sub printer, i could possibly add some script to have it print and email the final picture so that users could post to instagram filtered and ask them to use a custom hashtag for the event and tag the photographer.
Here’s a sample video of the script i wrote.

Couldn’t that violate Instagram’s copyright? Like, if someone was charging people to use that at their wedding/event?
