Mini tripods have become increasingly popular over the last few years. They’ve become a versatile and invaluable part of many creators’ kit bags. There are a lot out there, but a new one is entering the fray, offering some pretty unique features.
The Mambapod – currently running on Kickstarter – is a compact tripod that acts like a regular mini tripod. But it also has a couple of tricks up its sleeve, including clamp and hook modes for mounting and hanging your camera just about anywhere.
Mambapod – Mount Your Camera Anywhere
The Mambapod offers four different ways to use it. There’s the regular tripod mode, and you can also use it handheld with all three legs closed up. This makes it ideal for walking and talking for vlogs while also being able to set it down to shoot b-roll or just give your arm a rest.
But it also offers a couple of unique methods not typically found in other compact tripods. First, we have a built-in clamp that allows you to attach it to shelves, poles, railings and other places where standing a tripod up the traditional way is impossible.

It also features a hook, allowing you to hang it from something, using the other two legs to brace it against that something. This is similar to the Insta360 Multi Mount tripod, released around the time of the Insta360 Ace Pro ($299), but with the Mambapod being metal, it should be much more substantial for heavier camera loads.
The Mambapod isn’t just good for vloggers hoping to capture footage while on the go, though. It’s also great for city photographers and those who want to do long exposures without risking people bumping into a regular, larger tripod.
I don’t think this will replace all of the tripods in a person’s arsenal, or even replace all of the mini tripods. But it does offer some unique advantages over most others. It looks like it could be a handy one to have in your kit bag, even if it’s just for occasional use.

Make sure you look into the project and make an informed purchasing decision. While some projects may offer amazing rewards, others unfortunately may not deliver on their promises.
