Samsung to let you remove photobombers from images in two clicks

At the recent Unpacked event, Samsung introduced an AI-powered feature resembling Photoshop’s Content-Aware Fill tool. It’s called Object Eraser, and it will let you delete unwanted people from your photos in two clicks.

Object Eraser comes as a part of Samsung’s One UI 3. It’s the latest interface for S21, but it will also be compatible with Galaxy devices starting with an Android 11 update.

Basically, this feature is like a phone version of Content-Aware Fill. All you need to do is open your photo, click on the person or people you want to delete, click “Erase” and AI will do the rest for you. You can see the demo in the video below (it starts around 3:20).

I think a feature like this is too good to be true, at least with phones. I mean, even Photoshop’s Content-Aware Fill doesn’t always do a perfect job. I usually have to refine the edit, and I don’t even remove people from my photos (not even my exes). So I wonder how well Object Eraser will perform with complicated backgrounds and other tricky situations.

But we’ll see the new feature in early 2021. So, I guess we’ll discover how well it performs very soon.
