In late February, Ricoh announced its high-end compact camera Ricoh GR III. However, after the first batches have been shipped, it turned out that some series have issues with the control dial pad button. It’s extremely wobbly in some cameras, so the company is offering free repairs to those who have bought faulty cameras.

Ricoh Korea and Ricoh Japan have issued notices about the wobbly control dial pads, and according to Photo Rumors, the affected serial numbers might be recalled. Ricoh Japan explains that slight rotation is normal, but some models have shown “large display inclinations.” This is what the issue looks like:

And here are the affected serial numbers:

  • 0010046 to 0022290
  • 2010043 to 2012044
  • 3010045 to 3010544
  • 4010041 to 4010230

Ricoh will start accepting applications for a free repair from 8 April 2019. If your camera has been affected, you can apply for a free fix here, but Ricoh Japan notes that the link won’t be working before 8 April.
