Photographer and lighting painter extraordinaire Guilhem Nicolas (a.k.a Jadikan), created this mesmerizing series of photos featuring a magical circle of fire in the sky.
Jadikan shares that the “series consists of stunning long exposure photographs created in the French Alps using drones equipped with flammable powder to create firework bursts in the night sky”. While the effect can be created in Photoshop, the interaction between the firey sparks and the landscape is very hard to create in post.
Another interesting aspect is the encircling of static objects in the wild.
Drones and light painting have been good friends for a while now. Porche used a drone+lighting painting combo for one of their campaigns. Photographer Will Ferguson is known for his Circle in the Skies series and even shared a tutorial with us in the past. But this is the first time I am seeing this stunt done with explosive powder, which, for obvious reasons, adds complexity to the process.
Sit back and enjoy the show. If you are a Marvel fan, you will smile at the video at the end of the post.
