Meike has announced various affordable lenses so far. Two years after launching the 85mm f/1.8 lens for Canon, the company has now announced the Nikon F version of this affordable autofocus lens.

The Meike 85mm f/1.8 is designed for full-frame Nikon DSLRs. Of course, you can also use it on crop bodies where it will provide 127.5mm equivalent focal length. While Meike lenses are mainly manual focus, this one is an autofocus lens, just like its Canon EF counterpart. On the other hand, the Meike 85mm f/1.8 for Sony is a manual focus lens, yet it’s priced the same as the new Nikon EF version.

Take a look at the specs:

  • Aperture Range: f/1.8 – f/22
  • Filter Thread Size: 67mm
  • Angle of view: 28.5°
  • Minimum focus distance: 0.85m
  • Size: 79 * 75 mm
  • Weight: 420g
  • 9 diaphragm blades
  • Lens design: 9 elements in 6 groups
  • Excellent sharpness
  • Low CA
  • Low distortion
  • Features micro USB firmware upgrade interface that enables you to upgrade the lens

The Meike 85mm f/1.8 should appear on B&H and Amazon soon, and we’ll update the article with the links when that happens. Like I mentioned in the title, the price will be $190 ($189.99 to be exact), which is incredibly affordable for a lens like this. I personally don’t have experience with Meike lenses, but if you’ve tried them, feel free to share your impressions.

Update 17 August 2020: you can now order the Meike 85mm f/1.8 for Nikon F on Meike’s website
