If you’ve ever wished your photo editor felt more like a creative partner than just a piece of software, the new fall update to Luminar Neo might surprise you. Skylum has packed its flagship app with fresh AI features that go beyond just automating tasks.
The latest release, which will be available this November 2025, introduces a range of features built to make editing faster, more intuitive, and more personal.
Existing users get the upgraded Light Depth feature for free, while those with the Ecosystem Pass or new Perpetual Licenses gain access to the full suite of tools, including the new AI Assistant, Restoration, and the Luminar Neo Ecosystem.

The AI Assistant: A Creative Partner Inside Your Editor
Skylum’s new AI Assistant feels like the most natural evolution of the Luminar experience so far. It sits quietly inside your workspace, analyzing your image and offering relevant tips, step-by-step guidance, and even creative suggestions when you’re not sure where to take an edit next.
It doesn’t talk down to you or take over your project. Instead, it behaves like a built-in mentor who knows the software inside out and helps you make the most of it. You might ask for help balancing tones in a portrait, adding atmosphere to a sunset, or correcting color on a faded image, and it will guide you through it directly.
If you’re new to Luminar, it makes learning effortless. If you’re experienced, it helps you explore features you might have overlooked. This feature, however, is available only for Ecosystem Pass holders, in the 2025/2026 Upgrade Pass, and in Cross-Perpetual and Max-Perpetual licenses.

Light Depth: Sculpting Light Like Never Before
Lighting has always been at the heart of powerful imagery, and Luminar Neo’s new Light Depth feature takes this to a whole new level. It replaces the previous Relight AI tool with an engine that lets you manipulate light in full 3D space.
You can now place virtual light sources inside your image, move them around, and adjust their direction and intensity with natural-looking results. Shadows fall realistically, highlights roll off smoothly, and your subject gains dimension that feels as if it were lit on location.
This feature is set to be free for existing Luminar Neo users.

Restoration: Reviving the Past With a Single Click
Among all the new features, Restoration might be the most emotional one. Powered by advanced AI, it brings aged, damaged, or faded photographs back to life with realistic texture and color.
You can place an old family photo, and Luminar Neo will automatically detect cracks, discoloration, and stains before reconstructing lost details. The results are remarkably natural. Monochrome images regain tonal richness, while faded prints recover gentle hues and contrast.
Like the AI feature, Restoration is available to Ecosystem Pass holders, in the 2025/2026 Upgrade Pass, and in Cross-Perpetual and Max-Perpetual licenses.

Building the Luminar Neo Ecosystem
Beyond its AI advances, Luminar Neo is evolving into a full creative platform through the new Ecosystem feature. This system connects all your devices so you can access and edit your photos from anywhere.
Imagine starting a quick color correction while traveling and finishing the fine-tuning later on your main workstation. Every change syncs automatically. It’s a fluid, cross-device workflow that eliminates the friction of file transfers or version mismatches.
The new Spaces feature, meanwhile, takes Luminar Neo beyond editing and into presentation. You can now share your finished images through beautifully designed web galleries without building a separate website.
Luminar Neo Ecosystem and Spaces are available for holders of Ecosystem Pass and those with Cross-Perpetual and Max-Perpetual licenses.
Pricing and Availability of Luminar Neo
The new features and enhancements will be available in early November 2025 with the next product update. Existing customers can access the new Ecosystem with the Ecosystem Pass for €69 ($79), while new customers can choose between the Cross-device Perpetual for €109 ($126) or the Max Perpetual license for €129 ($149). Restoration, the AI Assistant, and the new Light Depth feature are included in these plans, ensuring all users benefit from the latest tools.
