Instagram kills off dedicated IGTV tab, moves longer videos straight to your Feed

Since Instagram has become everything but a photo-sharing app, it was about time for some restructuring a bunch of features it offers. So , from now on, IGTV videos will be a part of your Feed just like other videos posted by the people you follow.

Speaking with Instagram, Engadget found out that this will make longer videos play directly in your feed. However, there will also be a Video tab in profiles so you can watch more. It’s similar to the dedicated Reels app, I suppose.

This change seems to be beneficial mostly for creators who use Instagram to reach their audience. This way, their followers will access the longer videos more easily, without having to visit the dedicated IGTV tab. Also, it makes it easier for them to qualify for ads (and earn Instagram even more ad revenue).

Other than merging all the videos together, Instagram has also introduced a few new features: trimming, filters, location tags, and people tag. This makes it easier for creators to edit the video, and for other Instagram users to find content relevant to them.

There’s no word yet on when the changes will be applied, but we’ll update the article when we hear more.
