Here Are the First Photos and Leaked Specs of the Flagship Canon 1D X Mark II

canon_eos1dx_markii_f001Canon shooters have been impatiently waiting for the EOS-1D X replacement, especially since the official announcement of the Nikon D5, and while the company still hasn’t released any official information, we’ve got the first photos and leaks specs of the soon-to-be-released monster of a camera.

The official announcement will likely take place next week, but until then – does it live up to your expectations?

  • 20.2MP CMOS sensor
  • Improved dynamic range
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF
  • 61-point AF system with an expanded range, 41 points are cross-type
  • All of the distance measuring point can be selected, with lighting AF point red
  • All 61 points available at f/8
  • Improved AI AF accuracy and motion tracking Servo AF III +
  • Dual DIGIC6 + processor
  • New mirror drive system enables high-speed continuous shooting
  • 4K video at 60fps with internal recording onto CFast 2.0 media
  • Up to 16fps in Live View mode
  • Smooth AF with 4K video thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF
  • Built-in GPS
  • 0 and HDMI terminals
  • Dust and water resistant
  • Optional Wi-Fi with WFT-E8 wireless transmitter
  • Dimensions: 158 mm x 82.6 mm x 167.6mm
  • Weight: 1340g

Sports and wildlife shooters will love having all 61 AF pointa available at f/8, as will the teleconverter sales, and the built-in GPS is a very welcome addition. It’s about time this feature gets added into every single DSLR.

Unfortunately wireless transmission will still cost owners a hefty sum of money, and Canon and Nikon’s flagship camera won’t use compatible memory cards, but hopefully the yet-to-be-disclosed ISO range will help people forget about that.
