DJI has recently confirmed that some of the Matrice 200 drones are randomly falling out of the sky. The drones lose power mid-flight despite the indicator showing that there’s more battery life. And after investigating the issue, it turns out that the problem is in faulty batteries.
According to DJI, some TB50 and TB55 batteries have shown incorrect power levels. As a result, the drones are falling out of the sky mid-flight. The issue has reportedly been spotted in a “small number” of cases and DJI reveals that they are “urgently working on a mitigation plan.” A new firmware update for the affected batteries is on the way. It will “provide improvements to flight safety,” and it’s coming in the following weeks.
But before the firmware update is here, DJI warn the users not to fly their Matrice 200 drones near people and property. Also, make sure to check the voltage of your batteries before and during the flight to avoid your drone from crashing, hurting someone, or damaging something.
