Designing a landmark cine lens is hard. Today we are honored to interview Iain Neil, and Michael Thomas. Ian is the optical designer behind some of the most iconic lens series, including the Panavision Primo series, the Leica Summilux-C series, and several Cooke spherical and anamorphic series of lenses. Michael is the pushing force behind module 8.

You’ve seen the results of his work in countless movies, including Die Hard, Titanic, Dances with Wolves, Red October, Speed, Flatliners, Minority Report, and many, many more. Iain recently received a Gordon E. Sawyer Oscar for his innovative lens designs, so it’s not a surprise it was an inspiring interview.

On the call, we also discussed The Tuner, which is a unique lens adapter that applies cine looks to existing lense and had just recently wrapped up a successful Kickstarter. (if you missed the Kickstarter, you can pre-order the Tuner here).
