We all get stuck in a creative rut from time to time, and that’s perfectly normal. But if you miss creating and you still really need something to rekindle your passion, Adobe Inspiration Generator could be something for you to try. It’s something like a slot machine – only the type that always pays out and you have nothing to lose no matter how many times you pull the lever. Sounds cool, right?
The Inspiration Generator looks like a crossover between a simplified Rubik’s cube and a slot machine. It seems more oriented towards illustrators and digital artists, so you’ll find it particularly useful if you make composite images. But don’t disregard it if you’re a photographer, it can spark some inspiration for you, too. I mean, who wouldn’t want to shoot an album cover with a folk biker? :)
Adobe came to this idea due to the pandemic and limitations all of us have experienced for the past year and a half. “Inspiration thrives on our ability to pull in and process information from the world around us,” Adobe writes in a blog post.
“At the beginning of the pandemic, the shift to a new way of working kept the creative juices flowing; the sea-change the world was experiencing helped inspire us, but lockdowns have lasted on-and-off for over a year now – limiting our sources for inspiration. Though we’re still seeing evidence of creativity and it has by no means been cancelled, it is fair to say that people have to find creative ways to get creative…”
There are many ways to keep your creative juices flowing or to overcome a creative block. You can simply retreat for a while and not force anything, which I tend to do most of the time. If it’s not your thing, you can use all sorts of tricks to inspire yourself, and this Inspiration Generator seems like a handy trick to have up your sleeve. Make sure to try it out here, and don’t forget to let me know what you think. You can also share your creations on social media with the hashtag #beattheblank.
