Photographer creates pin-up styled movie heroines with colorful milk splashes [NSFW]

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, concerts, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.

Photographer Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz has shared his splendid work with us before. His signature technique is high-speed photography of models “dressed” in milk splashes. After Milky Pin-Ups, Splash Heroes and Fallen Angels, Jaroslav has created another stunning series for 2018 calendar and he shared the work with DIYP. This time, he blends pin-up style with the inspiration from popular movies.

In his latest series, you can see Morticia Addams, Jessica Rabbit, Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction, to name just a few. All of the models bring together pin-up style, movie references, and of course – lots of colorful milk splashes.

The shoot took four days, seven models, three make-up and hair artists, and fifteen people from the AurumLight team. The “costumes” were made from milk with the addition of food coloring, and the team threw about 150 l of milk on the models. For this shoot, they tried something new. They built a small pool filled with milk and put a model in the middle.

As Jaroslav writes, the milk splashes are “no longer a guessing game” for him and his team. After years of experience, they have a certain level of confidence and expectation when they throw the milk. They know which movements cause which shapes of milk splashes. Still, for those who want to try this technique out, Jaroslav suggests that you shoot as many times as you can, and at some point – it will click.

If you’d like to know more about the gear, Jaroslav shares this info, too. He made the photos with a Nikon D800 and a 50mm lens. This time, he also tried out the newest PhaseOne XF system, so some of the photos are made with it, too. As for the lights, he uses Einsteins E640 with various modifiers and the Lastolite panels. Here’s the chart of his setup:

Jaroslav admits the choice of movie characters wasn’t an easy one since he is quite a fond of movies. But, he narrowed it down to twelve titles, one for each month, and turned them into Milky Pin-Up photos. Some of the references are pretty obvious, while the others only have a small hint of the movie title.

Finally, I leave you to view the photos. You can guess the titles, and of course, enjoy Jaroslav’s splendid work. In case you can’t guess all the movies, worry not: you can find the answers on Jaroslav’s blog.

These look really cool, but I can’t get beyond all the waste. There are starving people *all over the world* so this seems excessive.

What have you done lately for these starving people?

These are so heavily processed they might as well be CGI.

He was going for that vintage airbrushed pinup look, which he got quite close to. But the liquids simply don’t look like liquids anymore, more like a paste which sort of ruins it for me.

Heavily agree! His initial series looked great but this time … A lot of effort for pictures that could have been created entirely on a computer.
