Wacom tablets won’t work with MacOS 10.13 High Sierra until late October

MacOS 10.13 High Sierra is officially released and available for download from September 25, 2017. However, if you want to keep your Wacom tablet working, it’s better not to upgrade just yet. Wacom is announcing a driver update will be ready by late October, so it’s safer to wait with the upgrade if you want to keep using your tablet uninterrupted.
Wacom tweeted that they’re releasing a driver update for 10.13 High Sierra in late October, with a link to their support page with more information.
We will release a Driver update late October for 10.13 High Sierra. The current driver is not compatible. More here https://t.co/M4ah1z8fn3 pic.twitter.com/gq2BhXElGj

When you visit the support page, there’s a statement saying that Wacom is working on a new driver update and that it will be “ready by late October at the latest.” They suggest not to upgrade to 10.13 just yet because the existing Wacom driver for 10.12 will not work with the 10.13. When the update is ready, it will appear in the Wacom Desktop Center on the Wacom driver page.

Yeah my Wacom is 10 years old and works just fine.
Sneaky Apple people updating OS X and drivers don’t work. Who could see that coming… Public betas are so hard to install.
will they support legacy devices or just the newest models with this driver update?
Why do a see my intuos 3 becoming a paperweight?
I worked tech support for Apple for a few years, and that is the number one rule of thumb, if you have any part of your livelihood in that mac don’t upgrade til their first or second update after hits a few days later. Hit the user forums after that and see if all is relatively well.
This isn’t entirely accurate. Downloaded and installed High Sierra as soon as it was available, and my Wacom tablet hasn’t seen any change in capabilities, effectiveness, or use. Works just fine…
I’ve got a brand new iMac and installed fresh HS immediately. Installed drivers — don’t work :( Can’t detect the tablet :(
Yeah, that’s odd. However, a couple things to note about my experience (if it helps you solve your problem at all). I did not reinstall any drivers or Wacom utilities after upgrading to High Sierra. In fact, I’m not even certain I reinstalled any after upgrading to Sierra previously…I just left the tablet plugged in and never gave it a second thought. It’s been working fine.
Now, one thing I did notice was that there are no longer any Wacom utilities or options in the System Preferences, and I know they were there before (because I customized them). Yet, the standard pen functionality, pen pressure, and screen mapping is right on. I need to try out the buttons on the tablet and see if they work…I actually don’t use the buttons much at all, so there is the potential that they aren’t functioning, and I simply didn’t notice.
One thing I did see briefly (and I can’t remember how I got there or why I got there or where “there” even was), but I did recently see something on my screen about Wacom drivers not being installed or something missing (like p_list files), I forget. So, yes, something isn’t as it should be, but for what I actually use the tablet for (editing in Photoshop), it’s been working fine.
I haven’t installed any new drivers for my Wacom since I got my tablet and Mac three years ago. Has worked with all the OSX in the last three years, including High Sierra. Must have lucked out for once.
