Interview with Benro – new System Go Plus

Benro is introducing a new line of tripods – System Go Plus. It is a tripod system that finally adds a shifting center column to the Benro kits. At TPS 2016 we had a chat with Mark Hoskins – Brand Manager for Benro to see this new tripod in action.
The System Go Plus set is made from 8 products: 4 of which are “regular” and 4 has “travel” legs that fold backwards to be pretty tight.
The travel versions are 4 sections and will go up to enough height for me (I’m 180cm), and felt vet solid to me. But the big news here for Benro is that they have a travel tripod that actually has a versatile center column.
This mean that the center column is can be extended and pulled to the side for an overhead shot or to have another ballhead on it.
The version that we checked out was the aluminum travel version which in the UK sells for 140 GBP, where the carbon fiber version costing about twice as much.
Here is the (slightly over dramatic) introduction video from Benro:

many Hong Kong stores stopped stocking Benro after the poor QC resulted in too many returns. In HK we don’t even do returns!
chinese copy from gitzo…. when will chinese create something on their own?
You know that tiltable center column is out there for quite a while and Benro itself had one for years as well. And well, it’s a tripod, there is not much secret to it.
