Panasonic has released a series of firmware updates for its LUMIX cameras, lenses, and companion apps, aimed at improving operational stability and expanding creative control for photographers and videographers.
These updates affect several flagship models, including the S1RII, S1II, S1IIE, S5II, S5IIX, and S9, as well as LUMIX S PRO lenses and the LUMIX Flow and LUMIX Lab smartphone apps.

Expanded Accessory Support and Operational Stability
Among the most notable changes is compatibility with Panasonic’s new digital shotgun microphone, the DMW-DMS1. Owners of the S1RII, S1II, S1IIE, S5II, and S5IIX will now be able to integrate the microphone directly into their camera setups, enhancing on-camera audio capture for interviews, run-and-gun productions, and field recording.
Operational stability has also been improved across all updated cameras, including the LUMIX S9. These enhancements address performance consistency, improving reliability during extended shoots or demanding conditions. For users relying on their LUMIX systems for professional work, these stability improvements are particularly important.
Lens Functionality Updates
Panasonic’s firmware updates extend to its LUMIX S PRO lenses, including the 16-35mm F4, 24-70mm F2.8, 70-200mm F2.8 O.I.S., and 70-200mm F4 O.I.S. Ver. 2.0. Photographers can now assign key functions to the lens focus ring when used as a control ring.
Additionally, the focus rotation direction can be selected in manual focus mode, offering more intuitive control during critical focusing situations. These updates give creatives more tactile control, enabling faster adjustments and more precise focusing while shooting.

Enhancements to LUMIX Flow App
The LUMIX Flow smartphone app has also received significant improvements with Ver. 1.5.0. A new “Director Monitor” mode now allows users to select clips, review video playback, and adjust ratings directly from a mirrored monitor. LUT selection for LUT View Assist can be managed within the app, and frame markers are now customizable and adjustable. Collectively, these features aim to streamline on-set workflows and allow for more dynamic remote monitoring and management of footage.
Upgrades in LUMIX Lab App
The companion LUMIX Lab app Ver. 2.0.4 also brings expanded functionality. Users can now select multiple LUTs stored on the camera and transfer or delete them directly from the app.
Image editing has been enhanced, allowing zooming and cropping adjustments for photo frames.
Location logging stability has been improved, and Bluetooth camera connections are now more reliable. The app’s user interface has been updated, offering a smoother and more intuitive experience for photographers managing both images and metadata on mobile devices.

Why These Updates Matter
These updates reflect Panasonic’s focus on creating an integrated ecosystem of cameras, lenses, and apps.
By adding accessory support, improving stability, and extending control over lenses and digital workflows, the company continues to bridge the gap between field shooting and post-production.
If you are a LUMIX user, these enhancements allow you to push your creative process further while ensuring your gear performs consistently under real-world conditions.
Compatibility with the DMW-DMS1 microphone is expected to expand to the GH7 and G9II in
For photographers and videographers looking to optimize their LUMIX systems, updating firmware and apps is essential. These updates not only improve performance and reliability but also provide new tools to manage footage, audio, and lens controls more effectively.
