OPPO has confirmed that the Find X9 Pro, its next flagship smartphone, will debut with a new Hasselblad Imaging Kit, highlighting the company’s push to stand out in an increasingly competitive premium smartphone market.

The update came from OPPO Find series head Zhou Yibao who shared the news on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

Zhou said the Find X9 Pro would bring significant upgrades to imaging performance which underscores OPPO’s growing reliance on its partnership with Hasselblad to drive innovation in mobile photography. Oppo announced more details and unveiled the exact imaging kit during a live roundtable on Weibo.

OPPO’s New Flagship

The Find X9 Pro will succeed last year’s Pro series and is expected to headline OPPO’s portfolio for 2025.

The handset is expected to deliver the most ambitious camera system OPPO has released to date. This feature comes alongside the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor and a high-resolution AMOLED display.

Leaks and early reports suggest that the Pro model will feature a 1-inch primary sensor that is one of the largest available on a smartphone. There are rumors that it will also have dual periscope telephoto cameras, a rare configuration even among top-tier flagships.

These upgrades place the Find X9 Pro in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro series, and Xiaomi’s latest Leica-branded devices.

What the Hasselblad Imaging Kit Adds

OPPO has partnered with Hasselblad since 2022 to refine the color science and portrait modes on its premium devices.

The new Hasselblad Imaging Kit takes the partnership to another level as it can combine hardware, custom algorithms, and image-processing pipelines that the Swedish camera maker offers.

While OPPO has yet to disclose product specifications, Zhou hinted that a more “detailed introduction” is coming soon. That suggests the kit could include specialized optics or modular accessories designed to push smartphone photography closer to professional setups.

These features potentially give the Find X9 series an edge in the looming competition over telephoto and imaging add-ons.

A High-Stakes Camera Battle

The move of OPPO to include a Hasselblad Imaging Kit with its new offering comes as smartphone makers increasingly compete on imaging rather than raw processing power.

Apple, for example, has leaned on computational photography and upgraded telephoto sensors in the iPhone 16 Pro, while Samsung continues to promote its 200MP lens and long-range zoom. Xiaomi, meanwhile, has built an identity around its Leica collaboration.

Hasselblad provides a way to stand out for OPPO. The Swedish company’s heritage in professional photography lends credibility to OPPO’s imaging claims, while the technical collaboration is expected to deliver a shooting experience closer to dedicated cameras than ever before.

There is no official launch date yet for the Hasselblad Imaging Kit for the Find X9 Pro. But it can be expected that more final specifications, availability, and pricing may be released soon.
