Some time ago, it was rumored that the first shipments of Nikon’s flagship D5 camera would come with a free XQD card and reader. Now, the rumor has been confirmed.
As reported by Nikon Rumors, Nikon D5 (with dual XQD card slots) pre-orders in the US, Canada and UK will ship with a free 32GB Sony G-series XQD card and an accompanying card reader. Together, these two items retail for roughly $150, making it a solid addition that wasn’t initially announced alongside the D5.

The move doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering how closely knit Sony and Nikon are. Furthermore, Sony and other XQD partners could all benefit from a little advertisement alongside one of the most anticipated cameras of the past few years.
