There are a lot of Lightroom tips & tricks videos out there, but they all seem to gloss over the same handful of things. A lot of the really useful stuff is missed because they’re so used to the software that they go on autopilot and do things without even thinking. So, when asked, they don’t recall.

In this video, though, from photographer Mark Denney, we hear seven tricks that he uses on a daily basis as part of his image editing workflow.

  • Spot removal tool – with a twist
  • Shift bracket keys
  • Survey mode
  • The shift double-click slider trick
  • The untitled trick
  • Crop rotation (nothing to do with farming)
  • Before & after

I rarely see a list labelled as “essential” tips that actually offers genuinely essential timesaving tips. but the tips offered here are very useful, no matter what you shoot. I’m sure these will help to speed up your editing workflow a little. Even a shortcut only saves you a second or two, it all adds up over several thousand images.

What are your most commonly used Lightroom shortcuts and quick tricks?
