YI is introducing YI Lite, an upgrade to their first generation action camera. It’s light and compact, capable of capturing 1080p/60fps videos and 16MP stills. It shoots 4K videos and timelapse as well, with timelapse at 30fps. However, the 4K video is only available at 15fps. Still, YI Lite has some advantages over the original YI action camera. Sami Luo has made a video review and some sample footage, so check it out, along with the specs.
YI Lite is equipped with 16MP Sony Exmor R CMOS BSI sensor. It has a 150˚ ultra wide angle lens and an f/2.8 aperture. It shoots 1080p videos at 60fps. 4K is an improvement over the first YI action camera, but it’s only available at 15fps. Along with the 4K/15fps video and 30fps timelapse, it’s capable of shooting 1080/60fp slow motion videos. It also features electronic image stabilization for smoother footage.
The camera has an integrated 2.0” LCD Screen with 320×240 resolution and a 1200mAh lithium battery provides up to 140 min of battery life at 1080p/60fps. It also features built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
According to Sami, YI Lite still has some features that could be improved. One of them is that the footage gets overexposed in bright light. However, he recommends it as an upgrade to the first generation of YI camera, especially because of the EIS, slow motion and timelapse video.
The exact price of YI Lite isn’t available yet, but Sami mentions that it should be around $100. This is not too big of a difference compared to the first generation YI action camera’s launch price. You can find it on this link, and as soon as the exact price is announced, we’ll update this post, so stay tuned.
What do you think, is it worth the upgrade?
