If you were the world’s most famous portrait photographer, what camera would you take on a job? If you’re Annie Leibovitz the answer is probably all.
Annie shot a “roadtrip” commercial for Lincoln Continental featuring quite a few celebs “going on a roadtrip”. Most of the movie is filled with Nikon and Hasselblads (I have no idea how many, but a lot of them), at about 1:50 you can see Annie shooting with a Sony A7-something (I think it’s the A7RII) and a Sony 24-70 F/4 lens.
Every BTS featuring Annie is a treasure trove (check her shooting Keith Richards), this one has more than the usual amount of tips. Just pay close attention towhat Annie is doing and how the people around her react to her workflow.
I am not sure if any of the Sony photos made it to the final Unconventional Lincoln Continental campaign ads, can anyone tell if it did?

Is this news because it’s mirrorless? Or just a Sony ad? This reads like “James Bond drives a Volvo” (Mostly Aston Martins… but a Volvo, too).
This video should be on PornHub, because the amount of sucking Annie’s proverbial cock was plain pornographic.
Annie Leibovitz has never been married to a camera brand, she uses what she see fits for the project and then focus on creating the photo she wants with her people skills.
You can see videos of her using her RZ67, Canon 1Ds Mark something, Nikon D3, Hasselblads, etc.
She knows something many of us have to learn: You can get the shot with any camera, you just choose the kind (not the brand) of camera you need for the shoot you are hired to do.
And a Nikon DSLR and a Hassy with Phase One back…
Don’t go getting too excited sony fanboys, she obviously just testing new equipment in the field. Do notice how she’s also shooting with a new Hasselblad with a Phase One back she’d typically use on an ad campaign and the Nikon D810… still the best all around camera available today.
I’m sure Annie has whatever she needs for any situation.
… looks like each setup is taken with 3 different cams (Hassi, Nikon, Sony)… hm, why.
