The new OM System PEN mirrorless camera finally has a firm release date, but getting one in your hands could take considerably longer. OM Digital Solutions has confirmed that the camera and its accessories will launch on October 30, 2026, while warning that heavy preorder demand could leave some customers waiting until spring 2027 or later.
The company apologized for the delays, saying it had received a very large number of preorders. It did not specify how many units had been ordered or explain how many customers would face the longest waits.
PEN camera and kits arrive October 30
The October 30 release covers the OM System PEN camera body in silver and black, along with two lens kit options.
The standard lens kit pairs the camera with the M.Zuiko Digital 14 to 42mm f/3.5 to 5.6 III lens. Buyers looking for additional reach can opt for the Double Zoom Kit, which adds the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40 to 150mm f/4.0 to 5.6 R telephoto zoom lens.
The standalone 14 to 42mm lens will also be released on the same date. OM Digital Solutions has additionally confirmed the launch of the BLS-7 rechargeable lithium ion battery and BCS-7 battery charger.
However, the announced release date does not guarantee that every customer will receive their order on October 30. The company says delivery schedules will depend on the product type and color.

Some buyers may wait until spring 2027
The warning applies to both camera colors and the lens kits, as well as the BLS-7 battery and BCS-7 charger. According to OM Digital Solutions, some orders may not arrive until spring 2027 or later, including orders placed before the release date.
The company says it is working to deliver the products as quickly as possible, but has not provided a more detailed shipping schedule.
For customers who have already placed deposits or preordered the camera, they may need to check with their retailer for an estimate based on their specific configuration.
