VSCO is an app of choice of many smartphone photographers. It is basically a more artistic and more sophisticated version of Instagram, which allows you to edit your smartphone photos and make them look more appealing. This month, the VSCO iPhone app has got a big and important update – it can now support RAW files.

The new update is available with iPhone 6 and up, enabling the users to capture, import and edit RAW photos within the app. In case you don’t own suitable iPhone model, the good news is that the new RAW support works on the images you take with the DSLR.

Thanks to this improvement, the photographers will be able to access a much wider range of colors, tones, light etc., which are often lost due to compression on JPEG photos. This can provide you with photos that are more accurately exposed. You can also successfully edit the ones with tricky relation between light and shadow, so there are no over or underexposed parts.

The VSCO team has prepared more new content alongside this update. They have created machine-learning engine helps surface more accurate related photos. Search is also new and improved, and there is a discovery section particularly for notable community posts. But, the RAW support still seems to be the most interesting and the greatest change to the app. It is, for now, the best that the VSCO’s team could offer to their users.

In addition to all the updates, VSCO has also introduced a new invite-only, subscription-based membership. It is a paid membership, but it will give you all the monthly updates and early access to over 100 filter presets. All you need to do is add your name to the waitlist and get ready to feel special.

Are you curious to try out the new feature?
