DZOFILM has announced the Arcana, a full-frame 1.5X hybrid anamorphic lens series in three focal lengths: 32mm, 45mm, and 75mm T2.1. The series is designed for filmmakers who want the look of 2X anamorphic glass without the weight that usually comes with it, keeping each body under 710g. This should give you practicality for handheld, gimbal, and single-operator shoots. With the price of under $3000 for all three, I believe these could be a good choice if money is tight, too.
Arcana lenses feature a custom elliptical aperture that reproduces the waterfall bokeh and horizontal color flares associated with 2X lenses. The front-cylindrical optical structure also addresses anamorphic mumps, the “fat face” distortion that tends to show up on faces closer to the lens. DZOFILM says the design holds consistent squeeze from close focus to infinity. This removes the post-production squeeze correction that shorter focus distances often require with other anamorphic lenses.

The company describes flare as organic and unpredictable, with horizontal streaks shifting through a color spectrum depending on light angle and intensity. In other words, the lens is meant to respond to the shot rather than deliver the same signature every time.
All three focal lengths ship with a PL mount as standard. EF, E, and L mount adapters are available separately through the Octopus Adapter system. The short flange back supports rear-mount drop-in VND filter adapters, covering both PL-mount cinema cameras and mirrorless cameras. The series is also compatible with the Ronin 4D LiDAR focus system for autofocus with manual cinema lenses.
The uniform 80mm front diameter and consistent dimensions across all three lenses, which is pretty much a standard for cine lenses. This mean you can swap focal lengths on a gimbal without re-balancing.
