It’s oftentimes the work you do out of pure passion that leads to the most magnificent result. That couldn’t be more true in the case of ‘Vista,’ the latest time-lapse montage created by Portland-based photographer Leif Smith.
The three minute video took three years of shooting, countless days of editing and consisted of tens of thousands of images captured around Oregon, California, Canada and even the Himalayas.
Smith shot the images using a Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D600 as his main camera bodies. For movement he used an Emotimo TB3 pan/tilt head and a Dynamic Perception Stage Zero rail.
As an interesting little bonus, the subjects illuminated in the desert scenes were done so using an LED light diffused by a sock…yes, a sock.
