There are plenty of home décor items you can make with wine corks. But how about using them for a simple DIY project as a photographer? Adrian of aows used them to replace his tripod’s missing foot: a simple, but very useful trick. If your tripod has lost a foot as well, check out Adrian’s video to learn how to make a new one.

You will need:

  • A wine cork (one for each tripod foot if you’re making more than one)
  • A sharp knife
  • Optional: a screw and a screwdriver

Making the tripod foot:

First, make a shallow cut for what will be the base of the foot. Then, cut the sides of the cork, but leave the foot at the bottom. Cut the sides until you can jam the cork into the tripod leg, and you can also make it a little shorter if necessary. Finally, push the cork inside the tripod foot, and you can additionally secure it with a screw. All done!

The cork foot will be s functional as the rubber one that got lost. Personally, I’d also paint it black, but it doesn’t look bad as is either. So, if you need an excuse to open a bottle of wine… This is a handy one. I just wouldn’t recommend drinking it before you start making the tripod foot.
