uni lenscap

We at DIYP are very excited to announce our new product: a universal lens cap. Meet the Uni LensCap: a lens cap that was designed by photographers, for photographers. Because, you know, we photographers are creatures of habit, and one of those habits is losing lens caps. Or cracking them. Or forgetting which one goes with which lens. Well, the Uni LensCap is here to solve these issues, plus add an extra layer of protection to your lenses that a regular lens cap can’t. Let me tell you more about it.

A Truly Universal Lens Cap

The Uni LensCap reimagines lens protection with a stretchy body and a secure grip that doesn’t slide off (like 99% of my Nikon lens caps, for whatever reason). It’s also waterproof, dustproof, and washable, all of which is perfect for those of you working in gritty, dusty environments.

What about the size, I hear you ask? The good news is that the cap is truly universal: it fits snugly on almost any DSLR or mirrorless lens in your kit. You can stretch it on any lens between 60mm and 90mm in diameter. That’s 2.36″ and 3.54″ for our US-based friends. And before you ask – yes, that includes lenses with hoods or filters attached.

Flat-Top Design with Built-In Impact Protection

At the heart of the Uni LensCap is a flat, precision-molded center surrounded by the brand new Impact Guard Ridge. It’s a ribbed, low-profile buffer zone designed to deflect blows before they reach the front element. Since our universal lens cap hugs your lens from all sides, it gives extra padding and security in case you drop it. The stretch-fit body grips the lens barrel (or hood, or filter) without stressing out or sagging over time, thanks to a reinforced retention ring that keeps its elasticity even with heavy use.

Easy to Spot, Hard to Break

We chose vivid blue color for the Uni LensCap for a few reasons. First, it’s easy to spot. Drop it in grass, fallen leaves, or behind a couch cushion, and you’ll be able to find it again in a jiffy. It won’t just blend in with the environment. Next, it also stands out in crowded gear bags and dim environments. And last, this shade of blue has been our signature DIYP color for nearly two decades, so we thought it really rounds everything up!

You can tell we really thought of everything, can’t you? This isn’t your usual throwaway lens cap. It’s built to last, and it brings real peace of mind. Oh, and it’s pretty, too!

What’s the difference with the KUVRD similar lens caps?
Silicone tends to be a magnet for the lint from the camera bag.
    Is yours different?

We reinforced the base ring and the center ring to prevent easy tearing when stretched, as identified as a significant issue in customer reviews with other products on the market. During final production, we spray it with an anti-static treatment that binds with the silicone to reduce lint collection significantly.
